Video Switch: Eliminates The Need For Multiple Cables To Switch Between Alternate Video Sources
Switching between various sources of video without disconnecting and reconnecting devices is made possible with a Video switch. These devices allow multiple video signals to be viewed on a single display device. The advantage of using this hardware device is that a user can select among several different sources of video and view them on a single display screen. The images are crisp and clear as though all sources of video were individually connected to the display devices. Resolutions of 1900 x 1200 are supported by these devices. Among the various types of switching devices available these days, the most popular is the VGA Switch. Based on the latest technologies, the switch which is gaining more popularity is the DVI Switch.
It allows sharing of DVI based video sources. Available in matrix formats, these devices can output audio and video signals from two or more DVI video sources and are compatible with both Windows as well as MAC. Most DVI interfaces from devices such as PC's, TV's, VCR's, and DVD's are supported by them. Equipped with built in amplifier circuits eliminating video signal degradation, they have the ability to switch to sleep mode when video signals are not available. Switching between different sources of video is possible with push buttons located on the front of the unit or via RS232 or infra red remote. This Video Switch also has a LED display to monitor the status of the connected source device.
It is available in 2 or 4 ports and while the 2 port DVI switch supports single-link DVI-I video signals and allows routing of multiple DVI equipped devices to a single DVI display; the 4 port switch allows routing of 4 DVI equipped devices to a single DVI display. This device is compliant with DVI specifications as well as HDCP. A key feature of this switch is that since it has an audio option, separate setups for display and audio are not needed. Since switching between multiple video and audio sources is possible with the video switch, it is used for presentations, classrooms, control center, remote monitoring & training facilities.
